001. [Video/Action for New Bark Town]

[Hello hello! This morning is looking to be a chilly one, if the view of New Bark Town over this particular feed is any indication; the ground is covered in a crisp blanket of white, the scenery is undisturbed, and the...uh, well, the feed is suddenly winging upward to shoot you a lovely and vaguely motion-sickness-inducing view of the sky. There's a soft, childish noise of fascination with it before the view shifts again - when it finally focuses on something that isn't the trees or the passing clouds, its camera appears to have settled on a young boy. He looks to be around the age of ten, with messy black hair and dark eyes that seem to be glittering with a violet tint to them.

...he also looks like he's freezing, because what on earth is being dressed properly for this weather. Seems he didn't get the memo that hey, it's cold outside, a coat is probably a good idea.

However! He's smiling despite the cold, offering the brightest 8D expression that a young boy can give through that much shivering.]

Ah, so is this how this works? Um...hello! My name is Selim Bradley, and it seems that I'm...well, a bit lost...

[His gaze shifts a bit, suddenly downcast, and he frowns, thinking.]

I woke up in a strange house, you see, with a woman claiming to be my mother - but I'd never seen her before in my life! My real mother is probably worried sick; she and Father warned me that this might happen one day. My father is a very important person; there was always the fear that I would be kidnapped in the night. So it's really urgent that I get back to them right away!

I'm sure my father would be willing to offer you some sort of reward for helping sort this out - if anyone can tell me how to get in contact with Fuhrer King Bradley, I need to know right away.

[He jumps suddenly and stops short, having been interrupted by a godawful screech from somewhere behind him; a Misdreavus is visible behind him when he turns his body to look at it. When he returns to the device, his expression is...more than a little sheepish.]

Thank you for listening, and if anyone knows where I can, um, return this pet that was given to me - wait, is that rude? Because I don't mean to be rude! I just...don't...really want it, and that strange man in town refuses to take it back, he just welcomes me to the world of, um, po-kay-mons again.

...yes, I think that's all. Thanks again!

He's fairly sure you don't know who he is, because, why would you? But the uniform he has on might help you at least know that he's a familiar face. ]

[...leaning in and squinting at that screen for a moment. God, this thing is tiny...]

...Lieu...tenant Colonel, right?

[He gestures a bit at his own shoulder, indicating that he's trying to get a look at your rank insignia, there.]

[ Oh! What a smart little boy. ]

Yes! Lieutenant Colonel Hughes. At your service.

[ A small salute for you. ]

[He will just be returning that salute with all the 8D that any little boy worth his salt can muster, Hughes!]

At ease, Lt. Colonel!

[...okay, that aside.]

Do you know what's happening here, though? I mean, it seems kind of...bad, I've never met these people before...

[Well, Envy certainly didn't expect to see this face showing up from home. He recognizes Selim, of course he does, how could he not recognize Pride's adopted brat? He's even seen the kid in person a few times, in disguise of course. And hell if that bright eyed, parent-loving attitude didn't just grate on his nerves. So he's feeling a little bit of spiteful glee that Selim is wandering around New Bark in the snow, no lie.]

So sorry, kid, but your parents aren't around. You're not even in Amestris anymore.

[He doesn't sound particularly sorry.]

[...well. Look who it is. One of those that he doesn't even have to pretend around. It would be nice were he not being so patronizing.

Selim won't be bothering with the cheerful tone; that drops quickly, after a quick glance around. The only other people he's seen so far have been "Mom" and this...professor person; other than that, Misdreavus won't talk. His voice is cold, his tone nowhere near befitting of a child his age.]

Do you want to explain?

[It really isn't your place to be condescending, Envy. Older Brother here will make sure you know that.]

[Archer doesn't reply to the video right away. He's more overwhelmed with the surprise that the Fuhrer's son is here. Oh, and the fact that if he helps the Fuhrer's son while he's here, he might very well earn another promotion. Brigadier General Archer has a nice ring to it.]

[After another moment of ensuring he looks his best (it's the Fuhrer's son, of course appearance matters! He wouldn't want to be forgettable, now would he?), Archer finally turns on the 'Gear.]

I suppose you could say you were kidnapped; but this is hardly the sort of situation that you're describing.

[While Archer doesn't sound like he's talking down to Selim, he certainly does sound more pleasant than he normally does! This is his "I'm totally sane, right guys?" tone here, so just roll with it.]

It's difficult to explain, but this seems to be a different world entirely, separate from Amestris. Several of us have been brought here as well.

[ So cute! ]

I've only just arrived a few weeks ago myself. But... this is a world called Johto. Apparently, we're pulled here from different worlds, so not everyone here will be from Amestris.

[ A pause. Something about a mother? So then, you're where Roy started out, aren't you? But he has to make sure. ]

Where are you? What's it look like around you?

Ah, well, I've heard of him from a friend of mine....

Oh?

[...what have you heard. what have you heard deets deets deets]

Good things, right...? Some people don't like him very much because he's leading the country. They might do or say bad things.

Oh, it's...it looks like it might be a small town! There's not much here, though. Only a few houses all together - that's still a town, right?

And...there's an old man here who welcomed me to the world of...these things.

[He'll just gesture at the little derp of a ghost zooming around in the background - clearly, she's finding this place way more interesting than anything going on involving the Gear.]

He gave me that, after asking whether I'm a boy or a girl and a bunch of other things.

[He just kind of wrinkles his nose a bit at that.]

...I don't think I look like a girl.

[Oh...Selim doesn't know this one. But there were plenty of people in the military that Selim didn't know, and bluntly put, this one doesn't look like someone he should know. So! He'll be perfectly glad to roll with you, Archer.

...as much as one can roll with information like that, wtf.]

I'm afraid I don't know. I doubt anyone knows how we arrived here; it seems to be the sort of question that's better left unanswered. You'll find there are quite a few of those in this world.

[Archer frowns for a moment before continuing.]

Unfortunately, that's really all I know. If you have any questions about this world, I will do my best to answer them, though I've only been here for three months.

[ Sounds like what Roy described earlier. Except maybe the boy or girl part. But it's possible Roy just left that bit out... ]

I don't think you do, either! That sounds pretty normal of an introduction here, actually.

That thing behind you is your Pokemon. It will protect you from all the wild Pokemon lurking around. [ ... there's a lot of them. Maes would know... ]

[Well, well. What an interesting change in demeanor that was. A smirk spreads on Envy's face as he regards Selim with much more interest than the vague "I don't have to pretend to be nice to you here haha" of before.]

Human children shouldn't ask questions so rudely if they want answers.

[He's fairly sure he remembers Lust mentioning this to him, when they'd discussed their alternate worlds, but that had been months ago; it certainly hadn't been the first thing he'd thought of when he turned on the video. But after that tone…he wants the admission, the confirmation from Selim himself before he'll be certain.]

[And what better way to get that than to make him angry? Envy's quite secure in his position as eldest in his own world, he'll be as condescending as he likes.]

[Well, that question will work in some ways, Envy; it'll get you a rather pointed answer that should tell you all you need to know.

At the same time, Selim isn't angry when he responds. After all, "wrath" doesn't exist in him. No, his tone is rather arrogant, but not truly agitated.

Clearly, you just need to be taught a few lessons. He'll handle that eventually. Maybe not now. But soon.]
